Jeep Safari in Karavasta lagoon is the tour that shouldn’t be missed. The tour starts in the sandy off-road at the National park of Divjake, from the pine forest to the sandy beach. Experience the National Park of Divjaka in one day and soak in the fresh air of the pines and sea.
Tirana & On request
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before departure.
Spectacular views of the park and the lagoon, get a sight of the rare Dalmatian pelican.
The tour start at in the morning in the Center of Tirana or we can pick you up at the Hotel, we will drive to the lagoon of Karavasta. Karavasta lagoon is the largest offshore wetland in Albania. Definitely the most beautiful lagoon on the Adriatic coast, it is located about 1 hour drive from Tirana.
A trip along the sandy belt between the Karavasta and the Godulla lagoons in the southern part of Divjaka is fascinating and full of surprises. Three channels connect the two lagoons, brackish water habitats can be studied on both sides and all forms of Mediterranean forests and shrubs are present. Divjaka National Park comprises a dense forest of pines and deciduous trees established on the old dunes, mainly in the northern part of the lagoon between the sea beach, agricultural fields and the river Shkumbini.
On a whim, myself and a friend booked a day trip to the Karavasta Lagoon and Divjake national park while on vacation in Tirana. Although the tour is ostensibly for a minimum of four passengers, we were able to book it for two at only a small cost. We were picked up at our hotel and carried in a very smart 4WD to the national park, stopping along the way to purchase local watermelon and spare water bottles.
The tour was fantastic as we were offered the opportunity to experience dynamic and entertaining off-roading in the park as well as seeing the beautiful lagoon, the details and history of which was expertly described to us by our driver and guide. On the way back to Tirana, we made a stop for a tour and tasting at the Cobo Winery, which Off Limits Albania were able to add to our tour at short notice. The tour also included lunch at a nearby restaurant, which was excellent.
A few days later we booked another tour, this time a slightly longer one to go speedboating and see the beaches outside the southern city of Vlore. Again, the tour did not disappoint and we were treated to cave swimming as well as stunning, unspoiled beaches and some rather adventurous off-roading – perhaps too adventurous for some! Although I like to think that this was only to cater to our preferences.
On the way back we stopped at a local restaurant (more like a family home, really – it would have been impossible to find without a guide) and were treated to absolutely massive amounts of freshly caught fish and seafood, with delicious local wine to boot. This too was included in the price of the tour.
In summary, Off Limits Albania allowed me and my friend to discover parts of Albania that we didn’t know existed and could scarcely have found ourselves during our short stay. I fully recommend and would very much enjoy touring with them again in the future.
The owner is a reliable guide that did extra to work with me on a short notice. He speaks English well and is an excellent driver of his Toyota Land Cruiser
I highly recommend him and his staff for anyone traveling to the area.
I saw places I would never visit by myself and could drive a off-road car, which I never did before. I would highly recommend Off-Limits, excellent service and excellent staff.
