What to Expect
Experience the beautiful Adriatic Coast on this half-day tour by speedboat, and have the experience of a life time.
Our speedboat tour will start picking you up from your hotel and transferring you to the pier to start cruising at about 30 min with a speed of 30-35 Knots toward Currila which is a beach located in Durrës. Durrës is Albania’s 3rd largest city, and offers more than 20 km of sandy beaches. We will go snorkeling on the old walls of Dyrrah (Durres), these are the ancient City Walls, built in blocks that have managed to survive until this very day. Those who have governed the city throughout the ages have left their mark on the way the surrounding walls were used as, ultimately, they were a security system that protected the city from various conquests throughout history. The massive walls seen today were built by Anastasius I, the Byzantine emperor of the 4th century A.D, who defended the city from invaders. The walls’ original height of 18 meters and considerable breadth provided an advantage against enemies of the time. Later, it was emperor Justinian who reinforced the surrounding walls by placing small observation towers above them. The Ottoman Empire was the last to leave its mark on the surrounding walls, narrowing them towards the creation of a smaller dwelling space. and will have the opportunity to explore the beach and the surrounding area.
Our next stop is the Cape of Rodon. Cape of Rodon is a strip of land bordered by the Adriatic Sea in the east and the Lalez bay in the south. It is the biggest cape in Albania and a “kept-secret” place – until the past years. Here we will visit the military bunkers build in communism time. We will visit the church of St. Anthony and the beach nearby, where Prince Karl Topia had set up a site for ships. The church is located very close to where the Jeep stops. After the church visit we will walk to the castle of Skanderbeg. Walking for 10-15 minutes to the castle at a simple pathway that does not require special physical preparation. After this amazing day of full exploration we will be back in Durres at 14:30.
