Such a lovely team and entertaining persons who makes you laugh even in times of struggles. Their motto:” All you have to do, is enjoy your vacation in Albania, we take care of everything”. Off Limits Albania, I thank you so much for organizing the engagement surprise for me at the cascade in Theth. Grateful for you guys!
We traveled by jeep from Tirana to Theth and then walked to the waterfall the first day. The next day we drove to the old mill and to see the blue eye. Even though it rained it was still beautiful. The last day we saw the church and tower and traveled back to Tirana stopping at wonderful restaurant on the way. It was an amazing trip and I recommend it to anyone. We were well taken care of!
I just got back from another trip with OffLimits Albania. This time a group of friends and colleagues from the school where I work spent the weekend in Theth. As always, Erald was very accommodating. I actually drove one of the jeeps as we went from Tirana to Thethi. The one lane, rough gravel road through the mountains was very fun to drive on, though if you’re faint of heart, I wouldn’t recommend it. There is a sheer drop on one side, and sometimes passing is required on a very narrow road.
The guest house where we stayed was basic, but comfortable (I’m not at all picky about the places I sleep). The family was very nice, polite, and accommodating. They were also amazing cooks; I haven’t eaten that good in months. Thethi itself is beautiful with the mountains; I could easily live there (I’m much more of a mountain than an ocean person). On the second day, it rained, but we still made it to the blue eye. Beforehand however, we waited out the worst of the rain at another nearby guesthouse. Erald new one of the people there, and they literally welcomed us into their home. They built a fire (in the grandmother’s room) for us to dry and warm ourselves, and they served us food and coffee. The hospitality in Albania is second to none. Hats off to Erald for coming up with plan b and for his knowledge and relationships with the locals.
Overall, it was a great trip. OffLimits apparently does have limits though, as many of us were politely rebuked for different things, like myself for walking too far ahead of the group. I understand the purpose of sticking together for safety, but it was frustrating for me, as I’m a fast hiker. Next time, I’d like to return with a bit of a smaller group who are more my age group. Overall, awesome trip! Erald knows all of the ins and outs, and he’s the best option for a personalized and satisfying experience. I’d love to take the jeeps down some of those short cuts and through the rivers again, so I’m sure that I’ll be returning sometime!
